Dioecious evergreen trees, 5-25 m tall, with often fluted trunk, brown, rough bark, ovate-elliptic, elliptic-oblong, oblong to oblanceolate, dark green leaves, axillary, greenish-white male flowers, 3-6 in 2-3 racemose fascicles, solitary female flowers, globose or obovoid and reddish-brown, tomentose, mammilate fruits having 15-20 ovoid-oblong, longitudinally striated seeds embedded in pulp.
